Multi-instrumentalist, Pascal Trahan has been composing music for over 20 years. In the 90's, as a guitar player, he contributed to several musical projects in Montreal's French independent scene such as "Les Diables à Quatre" and "Les Moutons Noirs". With "Les Diables à Quatre", he composed the music of over 50 songs that were recorded on independently produced albums. Since the turn of the millenium, he mainly writes instrumental music, which gives him more freedom to explore different styles.
Over the years, many influences contributed to shape his style. Already as a child, he was fascinated by the orchestral arrangements of George Martin with the Beatles. As a teen, progressive rock artists such as Yes, Garolou, Andrew Lloyd Weber and more particularly the ecclectic universe of Frank Zappa, were a revelation to him. That's how his passion for composing and arranging music started. Around the year 2000, Pascal started incorporating electronic music and audio sampling to his techniques. The music of artists such as Bonobo, Sofa Surfers, Depth Affect, Wax Taylor and Pawa Up First are now part of his modern inspiration sources. All these different influences put his style at the crossroads of rock, jazz, classical and electronic music.
